Zymego raises SEK 30 million in funding round led by Industrifonden
Swedish healthtech company Zymego, which uses intelligent automation (IA) to fill unused healthcare appointments and relieve staff from booking-related admin, has raised SEK 30 million in new capital. The round is led by Industrifonden, with continued support from existing investors Spintop Ventures and Icebreaker.vc. The funds will be used to scale operations in Sweden and accelerate Zymego’s expansion in the UK, where the company is now an approved supplier to the NHS.
The idea behind Zymego was born out of a doctor’s frustration. Dr. Ingmar Veinberg saw how late cancellations left appointment slots empty – while patients waited in line. Today, 5–15% of all healthcare appointments go unused due to late cancellations, despite high demand and available healthcare staff.
With the help of intelligent automation, Zymego identifies these gaps and fills them automatically with waiting patients – in under 90 seconds. The system runs entirely in the background and integrates with platforms such as Cosmic, Webdoc, TakeCare, Muntra, Opus, and Aurora TeleQ. The solution is used across primary care, specialist care, rehabilitation, and dentistry.
“We’re not building more interfaces – we’re removing administration. Zymego works silently in the background. Our technology helps providers save resources, free up staff time, and deliver care faster to patients,” says Nathalie Rohlén, CEO and co-founder of Zymego.
So far, Zymego has helped reduce total patient wait time by more than 1,500 years by redistributing cancelled appointments to patients waiting for care.
Beyond improving access, Zymego also creates clear business value for providers. Every filled late cancellation represents recovered revenue and better use of healthcare resources.
Industrifonden, who is leading the round, sees strong operational and financial logic in enabling providers to maximize the value of existing capacity.
“Long waiting times are a major challenge – in Sweden and globally. As populations age, making smart and efficient use of healthcare resources becomes even more crucial. Zymego’s platform automates appointment scheduling across healthcare and dental care, freeing up time for staff and reducing patient wait times. It works across EHR systems, care settings, and countries – enabling a future with shorter queues, more efficient care, and less admin. That’s a future Industrifonden wants to be part of,” says Jonathan Ilicki, Investment Manager at Industrifonden.
Zymego is also an alumnus of STING, the startup incubator supported by Region Stockholm. The next step is to continue scaling – not just in the private sector, but also across public healthcare. In the UK, the NHS faces major capacity challenges, and Zymego is ready to help.
“Our goal is for public healthcare providers in Sweden to use Zymego to avoid wasted resources and eliminate manual booking admin – but most importantly, to shorten patient wait times. Empty appointments mean wasted public funds and patients waiting longer than they should,” says Nathalie Rohlén.
With new capital from Industrifonden and existing investors, Zymego will now accelerate its expansion in both Sweden and the UK – with a clear mission: zero unused appointments in healthcare.
