Swedish Tech Funding Report 2016
The report provides an analysis of the venture investment activity in Swedish private tech companies during 2016.
After a shaky start following a weak last quarter of 2015 and the US market correction, 2016 picked up the pace in the latter half and came out strongly in both number of rounds (up 2x compared to 2015) and total capital raised. During 2016, Swedish tech startups raised more than $1.6B (SEK 13.2B) across 400 deals. In total, Swedish startups engage 575+ investors – a number that has increased by 129 per cent compared to 2015.
Domestic investors remained crucial to the ecosystem, as the most active investors across all stages were domestic. Top backers included Industrifonden, Northzone, and Almi Invest.
