Sammy joins Industrifonden directly from the world of academia. Prior to joining the team she was conducting research at the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences at Linköping University. With over ten years of biomolecular research experience, the main focus of her research has been on understanding the molecular mechanism behind the effect of fatty acids on ion channels. Through applying in silico methods, such as molecular modeling and molecular dynamics simulations, she has studied these complex biological systems as part of an international collaborative effort to design new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and epilepsy.
Sammy holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Toronto and a Master of Science in Bioinformatics from Stockholm University. She earned her PhD in Computational Biophysics at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems.
