Martin Gemvik joined the team in 2014. With him, he brought a lengthy background in the world of venture capital.
It started in the beginning of the 1980s, when he worked at one of the first VC-financed startups in the ICT industry. After this, he served as CEO for several years. In the first half of the 1990s, Martin built one of Sweden’s first privately held venture capital firms with a main focus on early-stage growth companies.
This was followed by a year in Silicon Valley. In the beginning of the 2000s, he helped manage several of the VC funds for the Sixth Swedish AP Fund (AP6), and between 2007 and 2015, he was in charge of the Sting Capital VC fund. Martin has also served on the board for the Swedish Private Equity and Venture Capital Association for several years.
At Industrifonden, Martin works with portfolio development. He’s currently involved in a number of portfolio companies, including Storegate, Anyfi, Q-Fog, Barista, and Pastry. Outside of Industrifonden, Martin also acts as president of EvoThings and serves as board director for Now Interact.
“I love my job. I learn something new every day,” explains Martin. “Every investment is unique, even if there are certain things they all have in common in terms of opportunities and challenges.”
In his free time, Martin enjoys practicing karate, skiing, spending time in the archipelago, or visiting Italy.
